Vegetable Garden & Grounds
We are blessed with beautiful grounds that are well looked after by volunteers from the congregation. There are lawns, flowerbeds, hedges and trees, creating a sense of calm space around the church. Among the trees in our grounds are an official Millennium Yew tree and a clone of the Corstorphine Sycamore.
The grounds also contain a fantastically productive vegetable and flower garden which is maintained by a small number of keen gardeners. The produce, including potatoes, beans, artichoke, radishes, lettuce, beetroot, courgettes, onions and herbs, is available in season to members of the congregation for a nominal fee. The proceeds are used to maintain and develop the garden and to donate to charity.
Annual activities in the gardens
- Autumn leaf raking and spring gardening days – involving congregation members working together to help keep the gardens and grounds looking gorgeous!
- Blessing of the gardens and grounds on Rogation Sunday, the 6th Sunday of Easter
- Family barbeque held after a Sunday service in June
